Ottawa has new firefighter
A new firefighter joined the Ottawa department this week. Nicholas Allegretti, 24, of suburban Montgomery, graduated Friday from the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute Academy in Champaign. The six-week course covered such areas as rescue techniques, building construction and fire behavior. Some of the training involved live fires. Allegretti went on duty Sunday in Ottawa. Allegretti is also a paramedic, which gives the department a total of four paramedics. Overall, the department has 28 members, including the chief. |
