The killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan caused jubilation in the United States. In announcing Bin Laden's death on Sunday, President Obama said that it "marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaeda."
But, the president continued, "there’s no doubt that Al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must and we will remain vigilant at home and abroad.”
What does the death mean for the future of United States involvement in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and how does it affect the direction of the global war on terror?
