Cops: Man busted for sneaking into Wrigley Field to grab some ivy
By Rosemary Sobol -- Tribune reporter: January 2, 2012
A Lakeview neighborhood man was arrested for running onto Wrigley Field and grabbing some of the ivy early Sunday morning, police said.
Michael Vite, 24, of the 1000 block of West George Street, was charged with criminal trespass to land, a misdemeanor, police said.
About 7:30 a.m., a Chicago Cubs security officer saw Vite on video surveillance entering Wrigley Field by using an area under construction on the west wall of the stadium, according to a police report.
He ran onto the field and "grabbed some ivy off the back wall," according to the report. He tried to flee but was apprehended by Town Hall District police officers who arrested him.
Court information was not immediately available.
